Promotion to Next Grade Level
To fail for the year, a child in grades PreK-3 must have a yearly average of "F" in one major or two minor subjects. Major subjects are reading, math, English, and phonics.
To fail for the year, a child in grades 4-6 must have a yearly average of "F" in two major subjects. Major subjects are reading, English, history, social studies, math, and science.
If a student has a yearly average of "F" in one of the major subjects, attends summer school and receives a passing mark, he may advance to the next grade. If he does not attend summer school, he will be retained. Parents are responsible for summer remediation, and must show proof of passing grades to the school.
